Hey Dental Marketing Guy,

I hear you talking about internal marketing for dental offices and dental marketing such as SEO and optimizing a dental website for conversions.  Which is marketing, and which is advertising?

Marketing for Dentists:

When talking about dental marketing, what comes to mind?  Direct mail postcards with discount dental evaluations, search engine optimization, and online ads that show up in your Facebook feed?  In fact, this is not what I refer to as “dental marketing.”  Marketing is everything about who you are and what you do to enhance the patient experience.  It’s as much about enhancing patient care as it is getting the word out about your dental practice.  The architecture of your office, the attitude of your team, the way you accept patients, all the way down to the way you accept payment from those patients.  That’s marketing.  This blog will help you take action to help gain a foothold in your dental marketing strategy.

Dental Advertising:

Dental advertising is the medium by which you promote your marketing efforts to the world.  It can be in the yellow pages, direct mail, or newspaper ads.  Sometimes these are great forms of advertising, and there is nothing wrong with a tried-and-true model.  If these forms of advertising are working for you, great!  But what if I told you your advertising campaign isn’t working at an optimal level?  What if I told you that you could design direct mail ads that convert 200% better, create a website that receives 5 times as much search engine traffic and an online presence that actually recalls your most valuable patients?
